Aaron came in third on Total Film’s 30 Hottest Rising Actors.

Aaron Johnson

Who? Nominated for numerous awards for his portrayal of music legend John Lennon in 2009’s Nowhere Boy.

Why So Hot? A breakout star of 2010 – after critical acclaim for Nowhere Boy and then for his role as the home-made superhero in Kick-Ass – Johnson’s star rises on.

He’s currently filming Oliver Stone’s Savages and will soon start production on Anna Karenina, Joe Wright’s adaptation of the Russian classic, which will also star Keira Knightley and Saoirse Ronan.

What’s Next? Albert Nobbs, which also stars Mia Wasikowska and Glenn Close, is about to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

And since I keep getting emails about, Dummy has no planned release date.  The film is not on DVD (yet). If any new news about the film’s status comes out, I’ll post it here on AJS.

Congrats to both Sam and Aaron! Vogue is reporting that Sam is expecting her second child with Aaron.

SAM TAYLOR-WOOD is pregnant again. We heard rumours at Goodwood yesterday that the artist and filmmaker was expecting her second child with her fiancé Aaron Johnson – and received confirmation from her today.

Taylor-Wood has two daughters with her ex-husband Jay Jopling and gave birth to a third daughter, Wylda Rae, in July 2010. She met  Johnson on the set of Nowhere Boy, the Lennon biopic that she directed and he starred in.

Taylor-Wood has no further comment to make at this time.

The films for the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival were revealed today and Albert Nobbs was one of the few listed among them! No further details have been revealed so far regarding it’s debut, however, the film’s page (which you can view here) has posted our very first still of Aaron from the film! I’ve added it to the gallery.

And as a refresher, here’s the synopsis for the film:

Glenn Close co-wrote and stars in this adaptation of the play about a nineteenth-century Irishwoman who disguises herself as a man and works as a butler for twenty years. Mia Wasikowska, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Aaron Johnson co-star in this intelligent and often surprising period drama.

Oliver Stone has started filming his next project, Savages, in Los Angeles.

The movie is based on the 2010 novel by Don Winslow about Ben and Chon, two friends who run a marijuana operation in Laguna Beach, CA. But, their operation is threatened by a Mexican drug cartel who kidnaps one of their female confidants and “sets into motion an escalating conflict.”

Savages’ all star cast includes Blake Lively, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson, Salma Hayek, Benicio del Toro, and Emile Hirsch.

 

Today, they are filming at the Malibu Riding and Tennis Club. Look out for signs that read PAQU.

Savages currently has a release date of September 28, 2012.
