Looks like we finally have a release date for Savages. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the film will be dropping into theaters on July 6th!
In a bold move, Universal is now planning a July 6th release for Oliver Stone’s Savages, saying the film’s action and heat are better suited for summer than for fall.
Set in Laguna Beach, the crime pic–originally set to open Sept. 28–stars Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson.
Savages is based on Don Winslow’s book of the same name and follows two pot growers whose shared girlfriend is kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel.
Universal made the move after screening the film last week. One studio insider said the movie, with its decidedly hard R rating, is more along the lines of a Pulp Fiction than a film like Traffic (Pulp Fiction stars John Travolta and Uma Thurman also star in Savages).
Savages’ cast also includes Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Joel David Moore, Emile Hirsch and A Separation star Demian Bichir, who is nominated for the Oscar for best actor.
Congrats to Aaron and Sam! They welcomed baby number two last month!
Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson and fiancée Sam Taylor-Wood are celebrating the birth of their baby girl.
Romy Hero was born at home on Wednesday, Jan. 18, in London, their rep confirms to PEOPLE.
“Both mother and daughter are well,” a statement reads.
The couple, who met in 2009 on the set of the artist’s directorial debut, Nowhere Boy, are already parents to daughter Wylda Rae, 18 months.
In 2010, Johnson, 21, told PEOPLE that Taylor-Wood, 44, is “lovely and a fantastic mother.”
The artist is also mom to Jessie, 5, and Angelica, 14, her daughters with ex-husband Jay Jopling.
The first trailer for Aaron’s upcoming film, Albert Nobbs, debuted just a few days ago and luckily for us, Aaron’s featured quite a bit in it. Check it out below!
Showing off his new look, Aaron recently attended the BFI London Film Festival Awards, the ‘Rampart’ premiere and the Opening Of White Cube Bermondsey Gallery. I’m assuming the new look is for his role in Anna Karenina.
